I'm tired of my first week books, help me find new titles!

Teachers and Students learn from each other book!

I have been wanting to incorporate some new books into our first week.  The message of this book is heartfelt and the pictures are adorable.  I think this book is perfect for beginning a year long adventure together!  Maryann Cusimano Love says:

"As a teacher myself for over twenty years, I know first hand how much I learn from my students, and how important the special bond is between students and teachers, each rooting for each other and helping each other to grow"

Book To Read When Setting Class Rules

My student "howl" (yes pun intended) when we read Marley Goes to School   from the popular Marley series by John Grogan.  As you can imagine Marley causes quite a ruckus when he follows his best friend to the first day of school.  This book lends itself to a great conversation about rules and the chaos that can happen when rules aren't followed.

Share your ideas!  I love First Day Jitters but I'm looking for some new titles to jazz it up this year:)

I have lots of favorites for the first week back - I change around depending on what level I am teaching!
Leonardo, the terrible monster (being a bully or friends?)
Tattling Madeline (tattling)
My mouth is a volcano (calling out)
If your angry and you know it (what to do when you're not happy)
How to loose all your friends
If everyone did

And there is a great series of books to do with allergies so if I have a child with allergies I usually read them "Allie the Allergic Elephant"

Check them out on amazon! Hope it helps!

One of my favorites is The Crayon Box That Talked. I use it to introduce the concept of diversity. I try very hard to create a safe and welcoming environment where every student knows that they are needed to make our classroom complete. I also like to read David Goes to School. I use this as springboard for discussing how we do and do not act in school.

Alison-

Hello Down Under! I just looked up Leonardo...I Googled it and it popped up on You tube! It was a great way to preview.
I was thinking this would be good for our anti- bullying meetings.
Thanks for suggestions!

Amy-
I forgot that title!! Actually I think I had that at one time... amazing how things can disappear from a classroom. I found some neat titles by visiting Elementary Counselor blogs .

Thanks Amy!
